Our shortlist for smaller golfers, junior bags and families shopping used—plus the checks that matter before paying.
The right cart lets your child concentrate on golf instead of wrestling with a bag. I would start with the child and the loaded bag in front of me, not a cart’s popularity or the number of accessories it can hold.
Our selection approach: junior-specific sizing, bag support, reachable brakes, included storage and practical ownership. “Best” below means the strongest match to a stated need among these researched options, not a claim that we tested every cart.
FIRST LOOK FOR SMALLER PLAYERS
Bag Boy Quad Junior
Why it makes the shortlist: a junior-specific, four-wheel design with an adjustable handle and foot brake.
Published fit: Bag Boy describes it for children up to 51 inches tall. Listed weight is 11.75 lb; folded size is 21 × 17.75 × 12 inches.
Check first: that the actual bag sits securely and your child can steer and use the brake. Height alone does not prove fit.
Why consider it: convenient opening and storage may appeal to a family moving beyond a small junior cart. Bag Boy also offers a PGA Jr. League edition.
The important limit: a junior-branded edition is not proof that it fits every young child or short bag. We have not verified a universal child-height range.
Before buying: test it with the player’s loaded bag and compare its weight, handle reach and folded dimensions with a junior cart.
A clean used RV3J or Quad Junior is worth comparing with a new one. A low listing price is not enough: inspect the frame, folding locks, brake, straps and wheel tracking. Ask whether replacement parts are available for that exact model.
